CHOIR DIRECTORS & CHURCH MUSICIANS INSTITUTE

The Church Choir Director will: 

• Be engaged in choral techniques to develop their church choir members to sing with a good tone, diction, expressions and sing a variety of church music genres. 

• •mprove choir directing skills. 

• Improve listening skills to detect intonation problems among choir members. 

• Encourage diverse repertoire for church choirs such as Anthems, Spirituals, Hymns, and Gospel music. 

 

The Church Musician will: 

• Continue to develop aural and technical skills for services/performances. 

• Improve choir accompaniment skills. 

• Explore other genres of church music such as Hymns, Early and contemporary Gospel Music, and Anthems. 

• Develop skilled piano habits for church services.

Throughout the year, we will present a Musicians Round Table to discuss issues within our society related to the Church Music Ministry and training. 

​

Panelists will include Music Educators, Church Musicians, Composers, Professional Singers. The topics will include: 

​

• The Church Music Ministry: Trained or Winging It 

 

• The Importance of a well-rounded church musician. Are you a marketable Church Musicians/Choir Director? 

 

• African American Children and Arts Education Participation
